About Us

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.

Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

Meet Our Pastor

We are blessed to be led by Pastor Ariel Matira—a passionate, dedicated, and humble servant of God. With a heart for people and a deep love for God's Word, Pastor Ariel has committed his life to guiding others in their faith journey and building a Christ-centered community where everyone feels at home.

Pastor Ariel believes that a church is more than a place to worship—it’s a family where lives are transformed, hope is restored, and God’s love is shared freely. His leadership is marked by compassion, authenticity, and a desire to see each person walk confidently in the purpose God has for them.

In every sermon, outreach, and personal interaction, Pastor Ariel’s mission is clear: to lead people closer to Jesus, foster genuine connections, and serve both the church family and the wider community with grace.

Our Story

Every church has a story, and ours is a testimony of God’s faithfulness, grace, and unwavering love.

The Filipino-American Oxon Hill SDA Church was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to be a place where people can experience God’s presence, grow in their faith, and build lasting relationships rooted in Christ. What began as a small gathering of believers has grown into a vibrant, welcoming community committed to sharing the love of Jesus with others.

Over the years, we’ve seen lives transformed, families restored, and hearts ignited with a passion to serve. Through challenges and blessings, God has guided us every step of the way, reminding us that the church is not about a building—it’s about people.

As we look back, we are grateful for the leaders, members, and friends who have helped shape our church’s journey. And as we look forward, we are excited for the new chapters God continues to write.

Our story is still unfolding, and we invite you to be part of it.
